Today is International Women’s Day. Celebrated globally on March 8 and throughout the entire month of March, a different theme is set each year to focus on the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women. This year we take a closer look at equity, diversity, and inclusivity as it relates to gender-equality, sharing stories and resources with the hashtag #embraceequity.

With women representing approximately 65% of real estate professionals in North America, International Women’s Day gives us a platform for candid discussions around what it means to be a woman in this industry.

In support of the many personal and professional growth opportunities in real estate happening today, throughout this month, and the remainder of the year, here are some key resources for women, by women–from websites to conferences, webinars, and even an all-female web development and SEO company.

Female Leaders in Real Estate Marketing and Software Technology at Elm Street

Before we begin, we’re proud to introduce you to two Elm Street employees actively involved in leadership and community building within the real estate industry: Field Marketing Manager Meagan O’Leary and Stephanie Alfonso, Director of Sales Enablement & Solution Engineering.

Meagan and Stephanie regularly attend industry events like the 2023 R4 RE/MAX networking and educational event in Las Vegas, NV to connect and collaborate with other female leaders and trend setters in the real estate industry.

Meagan notes, “I've been working in our industry for ten years, supporting real estate brokers, agents and teams to grow their business by leveraging education, tools and technology. I'm proud to network with incredible females that represent the different aspects of our business on a consistent basis.”

Stephanie added, “Networking and simply being in the company of so many incredible women leaders in the real estate space fills my cup every time! These events remind me of my calling in leadership: to be an encourager and a motivator and to lead with passion.”

Look for Meagan and Stephanie at an industry conference, in-person, on-demand or live educational event or book your own today.

2 Key Resources for Women in Real Estate

WomanUP!®

Operating with a three-part mission to identify, develop, and connect women who own or lead a real estate business, WomanUP! is a community for sharing best practices and the collective wisdom from peers and experienced mentors in the industry.

On the WomenUP! website, you’ll find links to WomanUP! Live real estate podcast episodes and registration details for attending one (or more) of the weekly live events happening every Friday at 2PM PST. Tickets for the 2023 WomenUP! annual conference are now available online.

Awesome Females in Real Estate Conference

In its seventeenth year, the Awesome Females in Real Estate conference is a three day event focused on sharing the latest industry trends, networking, receiving and offering mentorship, finding inspiration, defining your “why,” and connecting with your tribe.

The conference is affiliated with BrokerageUP.com, a female-owned real estate coaching company founded in response to a National Association of Realtors® statistic that despite the fact only 14 of the top 100 brokerage firms in California are run by women, 63% of all Realtors® are female.

Ready to Get Involved? Hire an All-Female Web Development and SEO Company

In 2004, IDX Broker Developer Partner Charra Hammett founded her real estate website development and SEO optimization company YourSiteNeedsMe.com, hiring an all-female team of employees.

Charra reflects, “I truly believe that an all-women company can be a powerful force for positive change in the tech industry as it demonstrates that gender diversity can be a competitive advantage rather than a liability. Prioritizing values such as inclusivity and diversity in today's office culture helps us to see past racial and gender divisions that can hinder our ability to grow.”

Today, YourSiteNeedsMe.com supports agents and brokers in integrating the IDX Broker Platinum platform into their real estate websites. Charra’s and her team specialize in configuring customizable home searches, lead management, IDX search page integrations, building custom Wordpress websites and more (see the full list of services on this page).

Working with an all-women company can also offer a supportive and empowering environment for women to grow and thrive in their careers,” she added. Charra plans to grow and expand her business into a legacy she can pass to her daughter Cheyenne one day.
